Oh, Woe

I am not typing this from my usual computer. My usual, beloved computer now sits at the University’s IT center in an attempt to fix it without wiping the hard drive back to factory settings. It is a difficult time. It’s been almost a week since my computer began its downward spiral into oblivion.

A week in which I haven’t been able to write for NaNo.

A week in which I can’t check my email on a regular basis.

A week of terror.

Thankfully, I have a roommate who is kind enough to let me use her computer. Though, it is a Mac.

National Novel Writing Month

If you don’t hear from me all too frequently this month, it’s because I’m writing my NaNo novel. I have to dedicate a lot of time to this, school work, and sleeping.

My novel this year is called Tales from the Pony Express and I’m already woefully behind. So this is all I have to say on the matter for now.

In Which, An End

Whew! Another year of National Novel Writing Month over!

Just like the past few years, I’ve some how managed to drag myself across the 50,000 word finish line. And I still have plenty of plot to spare, so it could go on even longer! But I’m going to take a few weeks break from my NaNo novel and get final exams out of the way first. And I’ve only got about two weeks left of school until final exams are over! I just happen to have two papers due before then too.

The first paper is for Honors and is due Monday. The second paper is for Genetics and is due next Thursday.

I’ve got a lot of writing to do this weekend.

In Which, NaNoWriMo!!

Today’s the second day of National Novel Writing Month! I’m pretty much right on track with where I need to be. I smartened up from last year and I’m only writing one novel. It’s much easier. I wrote over two thousand words just yesterday.

I won’t say too much on my plot for my novel. I’ll just say one word…

Werewolves

In Which, There is Admittance

I know, I know.
I’ve totally failed at this whole blog writing thing.
Oops!

But, anywho. Last Sunday night, I dragged myself across an amazing finish line. The finish line for NaNoWriMo 2008. I just barely won. Only 21 words over the 50000 word goal. Had I not been trying to write two stories simultaneously, at first, I probably would have done a lot better. But it still was fun. Even if I did end up giving up on one of those stories around half way through the month.

This is something I’m proud of, though. I made it through my first NaNo as a college student. If I can do that, I don’t see why I can’t write any papers that I want to, when ever I want to.

This is the ultimate win.

In Which, NaNoWriMo!

I’ve only been planning for NaNoWriMo for less than a month now. Which is a poor choice. Lots of planning really helped me my first year. My second year, I had little planning, and it sucked.

And now, here’s my third year.

My main problem was the I had two ideas I really liked and I’m indecisive as hell.

So I gave up on deciding which one I’m going to write… I’m writing both of them. It’ll be a very interesting month of November. Especially with all these fun college exams and that funny thing known as sanity. I might as well write it’s eulogy now.

Rachel’s Sanity

RIP

It didn’t live a long life, or even a healthy one. It died a slow, drawn out, painful death.

 The End

Well, that was fun. Not really… But whatever.

So, what are these ideas? I’ll post the blurps I wrote for them in my planning notebook.

A.  Myths aren’t always as told…

Eros, not actually the son of Aphrodite, but just a servant and only a mortal, offends his supposed mother of Greek myth. He falls in love with a women whose beauty rivals that of Aphrodite, Psyche, a princess.

Their love offends the gods, who curse them. Unlike all others, they shall not rest in Hades when they die. They both will be reborn. Over and over again. And always apart. However, Hera takes pity on them and grants that, even though born apart, they will always find each other in each lifetime.

They die and are reborn. The search begins, ends, and they die again. Then reborn once more. The next search starts up.

When will it end?

B.  Damien saved Rosa’s life and they fell in love. Time passed and they got married. Unfortunately, Damien has to go off to war. Rosa receives a tragic letter saying her love is MIA.

Desmond saves Damien’s life. They become brothers of sorts, as they try to fight their way back home.

Once home, Rosa and Damien have an emotional reunion. For a few months, everything at home is fine. Then Rosa starts feeling like she has to fight for Damien’s affection with Desmond. She is not impressed.

The bonds of marriage. The bonds of war buddies. The rivalry between the two.
